Felt great!  It's a beautiful day out there...perfect for running. :)  I've had two days off since my long run, so everything has been able to rest up nicely.  It's as if nothing has every happened to my achilles; it's not even tight when I wake up from sleeping!  The only thing that has been bothering me the last couple of days and towards the end of my run today is my peroneus tendon on my right foot.  This hurt on my left foot a few weeks before my achilles injury.  What is up with that?  I'm trying to figure out how to get it stronger.  I'll keep an eye on it and I'll keep running slow as I build up my mileage for Ogden!

Nice that everything is almost all feeling good. I think there is always some amount of "discomfort" in running, though, don't you think?

Matt/Kelli/Smooth/Teena - Wow, after looking at everyone's blog posts today (or lack thereof) this is the week of injury, sickness, taper, or no runs! I hope you all are doing well and Matt and Teena, hopefully no posts today just means rest and not something worse. How are you two doing? Matt, how is the leg?

Teena, I believe it may be both because I feel it at both insertion points abd then under my fibula process and about 2 inches above it. It hurt so bad yesterday that I had to limp around at work...I've never had to do that before. I thought I'd have to call in sick for my clinical today and my half shift at work since all I do is walk around (it hurt even to limp on it - sharp pains), but this morning it was just sore rather than dibilitated so I think it actually helped to walk around all day today at school/work. I just have to be super careful when turning right or using it's full extension/flexion. I'm definitely taking the rest of the week off and will not be running my 20 miler this Saturday...not worth it. Running is fine when I'm just doing 6-10 miles, but I think the long runs are too much too soon even with going slower. I'll have to revaluate in a few days. It's not an acute injury like my achilles was, just an overuse injury from my 18 miler. I figured it was a little too early to start running such high mileage. That's OK, even if I can't do Ogden, I'm looking forward to a good running year still! Even if that doesn't mean many races.

On the bright side...not even a STITCH on my left leg from my achilles... it's amazing!!

Are you getting any shock like sensations? Or just stabbing pains? Does it hurt a lot worse when you wear shoes with heels?

Kelli - yes, it definitely is a passing thing thank goodness! No deep wells of depression this time around...phew :)

Teena - Not sure exactly what shock-like sensations feel like (like it would feel if I had the ultrasound hooked up to my leg?), so I'm going to go with stabbing pains. -It's just sore now that's been a few days, but if I move it in the wrong direction (while turning to the right around a corner or when it's rolled inward - supinated - on accident like when I'm laying down and switch positions, etc.). I underpronate so extensively when I run, so they said it loads these tendons way too much, does that sound right? I think the long runs are just a little too much right now because everything is fine until after my long runs...and these tendons were fine with my last marathons, just sore to the touch - so I think it's just from starting the long runs so quickly after being off for 3 months. I think I should wait 1-3 months before doing long runs. What do you suggest?
